Review of Django (1966) by Steve B — 20 Jun 2011
What you need in a spaghetti western. Django has more. The amazing soundtrack kicks off with the lone gunslinger dragging his coffin across the desert and the best non-Morricone score you will find in a western.
Django himself is equal to Blondie for intimidating masculinity and lightning quick-draw. His indestructibility makes for a climax that requires some radical suspension of disbelief but is beautifully shot, tense and exactly what you expect from a final showdown.
A must see before it is equally tainted and revered by Tarrantino's Django Unchained.
