Review of Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002) by Tani S — 17 Feb 2010
Adore this film. I am typically drawn to stories of emotional and psychological struggle, being the child of two parents who work in the field of psychology, having been through therapy myself, and having witnessed more than my share of dysfunctional family drama.
It may appeal more to others like myself who have experienced something similar. This film makes me laugh as often as it makes me cry, and I love that about it. The actors do a spectacular job evoking pathos from their audience, and I think that's one of the many marks of an excellent story and film.
