Review of Divine Intervention (2002) by Bruces. — 13 Mar 2006
This film was numblingly pretentious. In the beginning, there are a few hilarious moments involving cantankerous old men, soccer balls, and broken bottles. Then there's a lot of watching characters sit and stare.
There's barely any dialogue in the entire film. Finally, the female lead, who's never spoken, suddenly turns into a superhero and takes part in a bizarre fight sequence where she flies around and kicks the .
.. out of some soldiers. Maybe the film's not supposed to make any sense, but it's neither interesting nor cathartic enough to impress me as an allegory for war.
