Review of Divided We Fall (2000) by Antonia X — 26 Jul 2004
I would put Divided We Fall near the top of a list of WWII/Nazi movies because it's an intimate story of a couple's personal experience in the choas of persecution and survival outside of the ghetto stories that usually are the settings for such movies.
I like the stories about non-jews aiding the jews because they are examples of the goodness yearned for in the ugliness of hatred and fear. This story weaves it's characters in realistic and interdependent ways worthy of the title while never falling to cliche or sappiness.
