Review of Divergent (2014) by Josh R — 18 May 2015

While being a generic action flick at it's best. There is little to like about this movie for newcomers or lovers of the book. Me, being a personal fan of the series was disappointed with the lackluster character building.

The main character, Tris, was a very static character, it just seemed she grew slightly stronger at the end. Unlike the book, there was no development for any character, for the movie seemed too caught up in itself to leave a lasting effect.

One of the most lovable and hateable character in the entire movie was hardly shown and his suicide was not meaningful. In the book, you understand the relationship Tris has with him, and the relation he wants to have with her, but in the movie he speaks to her like once and then kills himself after trying to murder her.

Lastly... the chemistry.... or the lack there of. Tris and Four (Tobias) have zero chemistry. It seems they just kinda of saw each other and went, "LOVE MEEEE!". There is no chemistry, there are hardly any scenes which chemistry is shown.

The only "chemistry" the characters have is the amount of face smacking they do.
