Review of Divergent (2014) by Bronteboo — 17 Apr 2014

I read the book before going to see this film and really enjoyed it. Despite the generic, futuristic teen plot it was still a good read. However as someone who read the book I found the film to be a disappointment.

Much of the plot had been removed or changed and I understand poetic license but some of it was just unnecessary. It missed out some huge plot points that made it difficult to connect with any of the characters on screen.

However I do think the addition scenes with Kate Winslet were helpful to the plot and most of the casting was spot on.
