Review of Divergent (2014) by Calem M — 06 Feb 2016
Admittedly I am not the target audience for this, but if a film is well done then it should appeal to anyone in my onion. I found it quite derivative, seems a lot of these films based on YA books have a somewhat similar premise and/or theme, and there's been so many lately that I just felt I've seen this story many, many times before, and better done.
This one's a mix of "Hunger Games" meets 'Equilibrium" which were inspired by "Battle Royale" and Farenheit 451" and so on. The cast didn't do much for me either, and Winslet just seemed there to collect a paycheck.
Skip it.
