Review of Disturbia (2007) by Corey B — 15 Feb 2012
Shia LaBeouf is not doing too bad. Transformers is upcoming, and sure to make a load or two of good cash. A couple months before Transformers came a nice thriller with influence of Rear Window; director D.J. Caruso's Disturbia.
Walking into the local cheap seats I carried a certain mindset that this movie is going to be ok, but not too fantastic. Honestly, I came out surprised. Disturbia is surprisingly good, and surprisingly suspenseful in all the right places. The movie uses comedy in rightful placement, to raise entertainment level. Not a perfect film, but it does not need to be. Disturbia, in my opinion, ends up being a engaging and entertaining film, and pretty good for what it is... a form of homage to a Hitchcock film.
