Review of Disturbia (2007) by Nichole E — 09 May 2012
Disturbia is a bad, boring thrill that has a very little amount of good that made me think that this film wasn't completely horrible. Disturbia is about a seventeen year old boy named Kale who witnessed his dad's death after they went on a fishing trip.
One year later he loses it in one of his classes and hits one of his teachers and is now sentenced to three months of house arrest. While Kale is in house arrest he starts to spy on in his neighbors including his new neighbor Ashley, who soon becomes his friend, and the suspicious Robert Turner.
Kale now has a theory that Turner is a serial killer after seeing weird things going on at his house and needs to prove that he is a killer with the help of his friends Ashley and Ronnie. Thrillers are always fun to watch because they keep you at the edge of your chair but that is not the case for Disturbia.
Disturbia is a dumb thriller that really packs no thrill or excitement. The movie's story is cool but it's been uses before and everything in the story is just so dumb. This movie is very predictable and up until the final act very boring.
Nothing really goes on in the first hour and a half of this movie and the thrills they tried to use weren't good at all. There were also quite a few plot holes that they should have explained but instead they just left it out.
Another thing thing that is pretty bad in this movie is that you really don't care for the characters. The characters in this movie are just so stupid and I really didn't by the relationship with Kale and Ashley.
Like I mentioned earlier this movie lacks some thrilling moments and that is very true. The only moment that I felt was thrilling was the end but that's the only thrilling moment you'll get in this movie.
This movie also has a few chuckles throughout the movie. The acting in this movie is bad in this movie and thats mostly because the characters in this movie aren't that likable like I mentioned earlier.
Shia LaBeouf can be a good actor at times but in this movie he was just bad. I did not buy his performance what so ever and that's the same for Sarah Roemer who is only in this movie because of her looks.
As for David Morse's performance it was the same as the rest. I felt that was a stupid antagonist and didn't seem like a serial killer at all. Overall Disturbia is a stupid thriller that I do not recommend but some people may like this movie.
