Review of District B13 (2004) by Clare M — 01 Feb 2009
If ever you find yourself, late at night, wanting to kill a few brain cells, for goodness sake, don't watch this movie. It's less an action film in terms of fight scenes and shoot-outs, and more a case study in parkour. While this is mildly interesting, it can't compensate for an atrocious script, terrible acting, and a decidedly French attention to democratic principles - which some might also find amusing or ironic.
I started trying to critique the philosophy evident in this film (definitely post-modern), but frankly, it's not worth the effort. Fast forward to the chase scenes and you have about 10 minutes worth of halfway decent action. Otherwise, you've wasted your time.
