Review of District B13 (2004) by Chris B — 15 Mar 2009
Innovative and original action. David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli are really good in their stunt work. B13 is a place so full of crimes that the govt build a wall, seperating that area from the rest of the country.
The starting we see David tried to overturn the local drug kingpin Bibi Naceri when he couldn't catch him, he capture his sister. Managed to save her and hand him over to the police but they are closing down and lock David up and let Bibi go.
The sister was captured back. Then next story is a really super cop Cyril, infiltrate and destroy a group of gang. A govt guy approach him and send him on a mission to stop and retrieve a bomb that was hijack by Bibi.
He needs the help of David. After some misunderstanding, both starts to work hand in hand. When Bibi demand 20 million euros for the bomb and the govt refused to give. It is up to both of them to work their own way out.
The govt somehow managed to wipe out the kingpin account and the minions kills him. When it is time to stop the bomb, the code given sounds weird to Cyril and both of them fight. When the time expire, the bomb did not go off.
He realise the plan is to let him activate the bomb and wipe out district B13, as the taxpayers are tired of this area. The corrupt govt guy was exposed and happy ending. The wall is to be tear down. The parkour action got less on the 2nd half of the movie, so does much of the action and stunts.
If they could add in more action instead of guns, it will be better.
