District 9 can surely brag it's a sci-fi masterpiece. The documentary style and use cctv cameras makes the fiction as real as it gets. That's mainly the edge of the film, no other sci-fi has used such realism.
The story is very unique as well, whoever thought of aliens living in the ghettos. It's a re-invention once again of the cliche subject. The anti-hero Wikus is also perfectly crafted to create surprising plots.
Though he's annoying as the Steve Carrel, I think it was for the best of the film.
