A thrilling, imaginative, thought-provoking work, district 9 manages to breathe new life into the sci-fi genre, whilst also making powerful and timely social/political commentary. neill blomkamp (writer/director) in his feature-length debut masters all the elements of a great science fiction film.
the fact that it was made with less than $30m blows my mind. it sets a benchmark for science-fiction (only surpassed by Children Of Men) in the 21st century.
