Review of District 9 (2009) by Francisco P — 08 Aug 2013
28 years have passed since aliens landed on Johannesburg, and society has decided to place them on a slum, named District 9, because crime rates increased since the aliens arrived. Wikus van der Merwe works for the MNU, a company that wants to move the aliens to a new slum, far away from the city, but when Wikus is send to District 9, things go horribly wrong. This movie is directed by Neill Blomkamp, and after seeing this movie I can say, this guy is an excellent film maker, he made one of the best movies I've ever seen. The plot is great and focuses on rascism from people to aliens and it is done in such a good way that you actually root for the aliens. The movie has excellent action scenes, it is realistic and has great cinematography. The acting is perfect, specially from Sharlto Copley. This movie is fantastic, a must see for everyone, even if you don't like sic-fi movies I can bet you will like it. The movie is filmed in the way of a documentary, which makes it even more realistic, improving the overall experience. People say that Blomkamp should direct the Halo movie, and I agree, this man can direct great action and give a fantastic story.
5/5.
