Review of District 13: Ultimatum (2009) by Matt R — 22 Jul 2010
This is the sequel to the action packed 2006 movie 'District B13'. The same actors reprise their roles as 'Ultimatum' is set 3 years after the first film. Damian and Leito yet again have to fight their way through everyone to save their district that may not be worth saving at all.
Cyril Raffaelli plays Damian and he may not have been in alot of films, but he's definitely has put his touch in several. He and David Belle (Leito) do all their own stunts and are actually responsible for some of the coolest stunts and fight scenes we've seen in cinema over the past few years.
Raffaelli was stunt coordinator for 'The Transporter 1 & 2', 'Hitman', 'The Incredible Hulk', and was the badass character Bruce Willis had to fight towards the end of 'Live Free or Die Hard'.
David Belle actually does a physical disipline known as "Parkour" or the act of freerunning; trying to get to one place to another as quickly as possible using your body as a tool. He's trained parkour stunts in such films as 'Babylon A.
D.' and the new 'Prince of Persia'. Just seeing the trailer, you can see his talents at work. This second outing is not as good as the original, nor are the stunts involved. If you haven't seen the original, then prepare to get your mind blown.
If you have, you should enjoy seeing more leaps, jumps, and kicks from 2 of the coolest stuntmen I have ever seen.
