Review of Distant Drums (1951) by Kevin M. W — 04 Dec 2015
The Coop battles bad Native Americans (the Seminoles) who're patriotically fighting for their land, their culture, their very survival against the usual murderous invaders ... oh well. Anyway, the action happens in that American jungle called the Everglades (second only to the Grand Canyon insofar as National Parks go if you ask me) which Coop's buddy (Arthur Hunnicutt in the role he practically patented in a half a dozen flickers, the second banana/friend gone nearly native) keeps warning us "nobody gets outta that alive".
On the way we pick up a comely redneck gal so Coop gets some romancing in as any break in the action dictates. Typical stuff, though location shooting enlivens the piece.
