I haven't read any of J.M Coetzee's books and watched the movie out of curiosity. There were mind-boggling scenes as it hardly provide any backgrounds to Lucy's decision to stay in the farm even though she was a victim of crimes done by the natives.
John Malkovich was in his best role as a Cape Town professor.
