Review of Disgrace (2008) by Tim G — 25 Aug 2010
As someone who read the book and detested it... the movie did not change my mind at all. That's probably because "Disgrace" is exactly like the book. Like line-for-line, image-for-image. Exactly the same.
In some way I admire how well they adapted the book into this movie, but just as in the book I really hate the main character, Lurie. I couldn't relate to him at all, and everything that happened in this movie (and in the book) made me angry.
You can't empathise with Lurie. And he doesn't want you to. That made it impossible for me to like this movie at all.
