Review of Disco Pigs (2001) by Moriah B — 28 Jan 2009
If I only had one word to describe this movie, I would use the word "complexity". Everything about this movie is complex. From the plot, to the characters, to the dialogue. Cillian Murphy did a really amazing job as the role of Pig. His character made so many changes throughout the movie, and was strange to begin with... All of his monologues were simply AMAZING. Elaine Cassidy also did very well with her role, and I found myself transfixed on her sometimes... She has a quirky look about her that I found very rare and beautiful, even though some people would completely disagree with me on that.
I think I'll watch this movie again. One, to understand a bit more about the characters. And two, to try and figure out what the hell they were saying sometimes, with their very heavy Irish accents.
Overall... a different spin on the same old "coming-of-age-disgruntled-teen" movie. Some parts were slow, and a bit repetitive, but I enjoyed this film quite a bit.
