Review of Disaster Movie (2008) by Jim C — 14 Mar 2011
If Judd Apatow is the Jesus of modern cinematic comedy, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are the Anti-Christ. A dumb, dumb film, to be sure, but also undeniably funny in some moments. The movie is merciless sending up "Juno's" self-satisfied hipster gobbledygook, and it's quite funny to see Hannah Montana still promoting her tie-in products as she lies crushed and dying under a meteor. Disaster Movie, the latest disposable parody of disposable Hollywood movies, has a shelf life of about five minutes, tops. Why would you watch a bad movie about better movies, when you could just rent the originals instead? Real disaster movies have more laughs than this spoof. Lazy, superficially au courant and utterly forgettable.
VERDICT: "Some Ole' Bulls**t" - Second lowest rating in the system (Negative reaction). These films are truly terrible films. They are not the worst things ever made, but they are definitely awful and should not be seen by anyone.
