Fantastic cast. Kristofferson nails the character's gritty and increasingly misguided optimism. The kid is solid, and the supporting cast is excellent across the board. I can see how some people might get confused by the magical realist elements, but for audience members who are willing to accept those as part of the whole, it's a rewarding experience.
