Review of Dirty Work (1998) by Jim S — 04 Jul 2008
Probably one of the most fascinating films of 1998, but certainly not the greatest; this box-office smasher was a disappointment due to the ongoing verbal and physical humor, but it is worth a laugh for a rainy afternoon. Norm Macdonald was downright hilarious as the loser Mitch, Chevy Chase was superb as the problematic gambler Dr. Farthing, and Jack Warden was one hell of a Pops! If you're in the mood for a comedy that is out there with some clever antics, this is a must-see. I would argue, however, that this "was not lifelessly directed by Bob Saget." It was filled with amazing scenes, random cameo appearances with Adam Sandler, Gary Coleman, and John Coleman, and it added a spice that appeared different from other SNL films. Entertaining, but lacking realism. Just remember: "Don't take no crap from nobody.".
Grade: 79/100 (C+).
