Review of Dirty Wars (2013) by Kevin C — 30 Jun 2013
I love Jeremy whenever I see him on TV, or come across an article that he's written. This documentary, as well, was quite good. That said, the film was framed as an introductory lesson on JSOCC and its role in America's drone-strikes. For me, this was a disappointment. I went in expecting a documentary aimed at folks like myself, who follow these issues.
The fact that it was aimed at the general public surprised me, and left me feeling underwhelmed. That said, I don't fault it at all for having such a frame, and I actually applaud Jeremy for trying to bring this topic out into the mainstream. Definitely worth a watch for anyone who only has a wishy-washy recognition of names like "al-Awlaki" or "JSOCC.".
