Review of Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) by Andrew S — 12 Jul 2008
Three stars for featuring some of the most dangerous stunts ever performed on a low-budget film. I can't believe nobody died making this. I would have given it four stars, but unfortunately seeing Vic Morrow ride around in a helicopter is just too disturbing given the manner in which he eventually died in real life.
Critics of Tarantino's 70s homage "Death Proof" obviously never saw "Dirty Mary", because QT's flick is most definitely an improvement. The car action is spotty at best, and there is very little comparatively in the way of dialog or characterization in between.
