Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Brentwood B — 13 Dec 2009
What can I really add to an Eternal Classic??
I saw it when it came out & wuz blown away!! Remember, this is a time when the heavier cop thrillers were, "Mannix"/"Columbo" and movies about indiscriminate violence were barely on the horizon. Yet Eastwood made this becuz he says he "liked the script".
Any mayb unknown 2 most viewers, this movie was actually based a serial killer in S.F. in the late 60's but who was never caught like in this movie, but garnered tons of press--ironic for the "peace, love, happiness" late 60's Generation.
Hear again iz Eastwood's penchant 4 making controversail subject matter as a cop who feels the Constitution gets in the way of catching crooks and sadistically shows that.
Andy Robinson as the psycho and who shares that title w/ "The Dark Knights" Joker as the mindblowing Creep of the Century!
