Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Woo-Ok J — 05 Aug 2010
I?m not sure most of things in this movie. Nevertheless Harry is cool guy.
Dirty Harry was released in 1971 in USA and its background is San Francisco. Harry is police officer but he has tenacity and he sometimes doing deviated things to arrest the suspects, so other people call him Dirty Harry. Scorpio ? it is nick name - who is criminal in this movie habitually do kidnapping, raping and sniping. Besides he demands a huge amount of ransom to city of San Francisco, if not he will kill per person per day. Harry and his partner named Chico are trying to find and arrest the Scorpio. So, sometimes they are holding shoot-outs or engaged in a chase. Scorpio kills again a little boy and kidnaps & kills a 14 years old girl. Finally Harry almost arrests him but the police say evidences are not enough. Thus Scorpio gets free and Harry dogs out him. But according to the Scorpio?s childish plan Harry cannot follow him anymore. After then, Scorpio kidnaps a school bus and demands a lot of money to City of San Francisco. Therefore Harry was sent to give him money and then????????????.
First, I think this movie has some childish story. It is that Scorpio gets hit some guy and he tells NEWS Harry doing like that. Scorpio?s plan is perfect but it?s too childish and little bit contrived method. In my opinion, if Harry is accused of invasion of privacy, Scorpio could get more certain free.
However two guys', Harry (Clint Eastwood) and Scorpio (Andrew Robinson), acting is excellent. Eastwood acts the dirty police officer like he is real police officer. Also Robinson acts repulsive criminal really provokingly. I think the Eastwood?s best scene is last scene that he points a gun to Scorpio at lakeside and he says his famous lines because when he acts this part, his face is very impressive and looks like real to me. Also Robinson?s best scene is shot-out scene that Scorpio VS Harry and Chico because when he shots the gun, his face and behavior looks that he really like kill the people.
Lastly, I want to see another series of Dirty Harry and I hope they are also fun like this (or more ).
