Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by David C — 10 Aug 2010
?I know what you're thinking ? "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you?? This is the best script to identify Dirty Harry.
This story happen all in San Francisco and begins at a young woman was murdered by asasadistic serial killer who calls himself "Scorpio" (Act by Andy Robinson). After this murder, Scorpio send a mail to the police and tell them that he will make the next murder which is a Catholic priest or a nigger unless the city pay him $100,000 Inspector Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry, Act by Clint Eastwood) start to find this crazy killer and the story begin. During Harry finding Scorpio, Scorpio kidnaps and rapes a teenage girl. The police make up the mind to pay the money. Unfortunately, Scorpio still kills the teenager girl, even if Harry catch him still can?t stop the teenager girl?s die. Not only this, the police release Scorpio because they have no evidence to proof Scorpio is the killer. So Harry made up his plan.
This movie is really a 70s? movie. They don?t have a lot of music in the movie. The story of the movie is slow and smooth, but no ?explosion?. I mean the story is bored. For sure is this movie made a special ?hero? and made a leading card in the 70s? , but the script is suck and the way they is a little bit too smooth which make this movie bored. Maybe it is because I compare with some police drama in this time period. But in my opinion, I don?t think in that time period can only reach this level. It can add some explosion (the explosion with the bomb.) or make the character more identity. The film is also too slow, especially in the chasing part. Chasing part is actually fast and active. But in this film, it is slow and ?unactive?. It is just telling that they are chasing, but not letting the audient feeling the same situation. To tell the true, maybe this movie really give a great memory for many American, but for me, I won?t recommend it to you.
