Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Nathan O — 09 Sep 2010
I know this film is a classic but it took a while for this film to actually get caught in my radar and when I was going into it, I had high expectations. I never watched any Clint Eastwood during my life until this film. I already knew that Dirty Harry was a classic series of films and I knew that Eastwood was incredibly famous for his role as Dirty Harry so going into it, I had no idea how good it would be!
San Fransisco cop, Harry Callahan, nicknamed Dirty Harry is on the case after a mysterious serial killer nicknamed "The Scorpio Killer" who has the threatened to kill one person each day until his demands have been fulfilled.
The plot really is simple, and when compared to the sequels also but if anything is given the proper treatment, it can be a masterpiece. I don't know if I would call this film a masterpiece but it still deserves a 100% from me. Clint Eastwood's acting is fantastic, the writing is definitely superb and the music by Lalo Schifrin is probably some of the greatest music ever composed for film.
But overall, simple plot done extremely well, great talent and a great entertainment!
