Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Xeni Z — 23 Sep 2010
My Opinion: It seems Clint Eastwood doesn?t have to talk much, not until almost 6 minutes in did anyone at all talk. The movie also doesn?t flow like modern day cop movies do (although, they are all very predictable). We know who the killer is from the beginning, it seems that the movie is just about catching him (although as killers go, he isn?t all that intelligent just very deranged) and he always manages to escape one way or another. I really question how this police department can even operate? the whole thing runs more like a movie script than an actual murder investigation.
The plot is rather weak, the characters aren?t exactly strong either. The whole thing runs like a ?lets make Clint Eastwood a star? and not much else. It?s not a very realistic movie, either.
Conclusion: As older movies go, it is entertaining. Not sure if I would ever watch it again, seeing as how it?s incredibly predictable and boring.
