Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Critic M — 24 Nov 2013
The original action movie. Dirty Harry was the first of it's kind to have a certain level of real life grit, cussing and believability. This movie is absolutely perfect, from the beautiful technicolor film it was shot on, down to the dark sarcasm in the script.
Clint Eastwood owns the title role and created an iconic character in the process. Dirty Harry is one of those 1970's classics that has reached a pinnacle of success that is untouchable. Harry Callahan has so many great catchphrases engrained in our societies consciousness that will be quoted long into the future.
Every guy wants to be as cool as Eastwood in Dirty Harry. The man is the definition of a true badass, and the larger than life persona is captured on screen. The Dirty Harry franchise is one of the most iconic of the last century, and this is the picture that started it all.
