Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Matt M — 30 Jan 2013
Harry Callahan, a San Francisco police detective known for his merciless attitude towards criminals, is on the hunt for a psychotic killer. One of Eastwood's most famous roles. Hailed as a cult film as well as controversially regarded as an apologia for Fascist mentality, this cop thriller is filled with memorable sequences, high tension and dramatic undertones that are simply gripping as well as wonderfully fitting the gritty style that perfectly captures the mood and madness of the every day atmosphere of violent city life.
Credit goes to Don Siegel's direction, which neither overplays of underplays the ace screenplay.
