Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Roy S — 03 Nov 2013
Certainly one of the best movies of the 70s, and one of my most oft-seen. It was stunning when I first saw it as a child in a drive-in circa 1974, edited for television on a portable black-and-white, on cable (pay and otherwise), in a college film class, on videotape and DVD, and still was stunning today in a theater 42 years after its initial release.
Outstanding work by Clint Eastwood, Don Siegel, and the great unsung Andy Robinson as perhaps the greatest (and most loathsome) cinematic psycho of all time. Everyone connected to the film deserves praise really, especially Lalo Schiffren for his super cool soundtrack.
