Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Joe N — 27 Mar 2014
Clint Eastwood plays a San Francisco cop known as Dirty Harry who carries a "44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world that will blow your head clean off" and he is one man you do not want to find yourself on the bad side of, because sooner or later, you'll be asking yourself, "Do I feel lucky?".
... WELL DO YA PUNK!!! This film is a fun, intense, hilarious, suspenseful ride. The lack of music used during the climaxes makes the scene even more suspenseful. It's also interesting how accurately this film portrays the corrupt police force, and Harry Callahan (Eastwood) often just finds himself with no choice but to operate outside the law in order to get the job done and bring those bad guys to justice.
Once Dirty Harry finally has them right where he wants them, those big tough guys are nothing but a bunch of PUNKS, Sometimes you get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it if I were you PUNK. Bottom line, this movie is simply a classic.
It is filled with moments, scenes and lines that are still being quoted, reenacted and even parodied still to this day. One of the best characters to ever be portrayed in a feature film.
