Review of Dirty Harry (1971) by Daniel G — 15 Jun 2014
Clint Eastwood oozes cool and spits daggers in Don Siegel's indelible genre classic. To the modern viewer, Dirty Harry is loaded with cop movie cliches, continuity hiccups and dire direlogue but the fact of the matter is, the loose-cannon cop flick as we know it would not exist were it not for this very film.
On less nostalgic note, Siegel's squalid vision of San Francisco's bloodstained backstreets is to die for, Andrew Robinson's squealing psychopath steals the show and the film's final showdown is, in a word, phenomenal. Iconic Eastwood. Quintessential Siegel.
