Review of Dirty Grandpa (2016) by Nels D — 17 Aug 2016
Dirty Grandpa is a young adult raunch comedy that isn't as godawful as a lot of people are saying. What saves the film from being awful for me is the two leads. Robert De Niro and Zac Efron both have really good chemistry with one another and when the film focuses its comedy and story on them, the film can be pretty funny and rather good at times.
But what holds this film back is when it focuses on anything else outside of the two leads. This film is filled with unnecessary and unfunny side characters that get way too much screen time and a moral that feels very tacked on and a little pretentious at times.
So Dirty Grandpa is not necessarily awful, but it is overall unfortunately lackluster and forgettable. This comedy is rather disposable. You're probably not gonna remember this one after about a week.
