Review of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004) by Jessy M — 06 Feb 2011
A decent film, but let down by the fact it was marketed as a "sequel" to Dirty Dancing when it isn't. It's based on a true story and is set against the backdrop of the Cuban revolution.
It shouldn't be compared to Dirty Dancing and nor should the makers of the latter film have tagged onto the 80s classic, by shoehorning in a Patrick Swayze cameo. With a few tweaks, Havana Nights could have stood on its own, rather than being condemned to the fate of a doppelganger.
