Review of Dirty Dancing (1987) by Erik G — 25 Jan 2012
"Nobody leaves Baby in the corner.".
Have the time of your life. It's the summer of 1963, and the idealistically innocent 17-year-old Baby is vacationing with her parents in the Catskills. While exploring the resort grounds late one evening, she is drawn to the hotel dance instructor, as experienced in life as Baby is naive. Mesmerized by the sexy beats and uninhibited movements of "dirty dancing" - Baby soon becomes Johnny's prize pupil - in dance and in love.
Until recently, I once thought 'Dirty Dancing' would tire me out during viewing but even after seeing it twice I now it found it great for the entertaining music. And I had no idea what's with the movie title...I now learned it's referring to the sensual dancing style, like the tango. The memorable ending scene entertained me with the theme song, "I've Had The Time Of My Life", that's accompanied by the dancing. I knew both Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did their great acting/dancing performances here. As a release from my birth year, 1987, I see that this is a fun chick flick to watch.
