Review of Dinosaur (2000) by Dillon L — 01 Mar 2011
DINOSAUR (2000) Disneys animated classic 'Dinosaur' brings some great cgi visuals to the screen. For its time of release, the special effects were very impressive. Sadly the story falls short of being anything spectacular or original.
Plot wise, it stays on a pretty linear path but never falls short of providing good laughs and family humor. Strangely enough, I saw an entirely different, terrifying side to this movie that was shown through the actions and movements of these creatures.
It almost makes me wish that a directors cut with no voices would be made. Most of the journey and the actions that take place tend to speak for themselves, the voice acting tended to over-do it just a tad.
The voice cast all did a great job, however it is movies like this that just make you look back and wonder how exactly these dinosaurs and monkeys and creatures all know how to speak english? It just seemed a bit ridiculous at times, then again I guess the same could be said for any of the Disney animated epics that involve animals as the main characters.
Overall: Disney's DINOSAUR was a fantastic visual epic that should at least be seen once. I have heard that the presentation of Dinosaur that is available on blu-ray is just fantastic.
