Review of Dinner with Friends (2001) by Garry J — 24 Jul 2007
The film is not nearly as gay as the poster suggests. The writing is impressive. It was able to suggest and evoke so much without going into well-worn cliches or naive polarities of right and wrong. The flashback scene makes the movie sag a little but for an understated film it's really quite good.
It reminded me of the domestic parallel to Woody Allen's Matchpoint but without the macabre ending.
