Review of Dinner for Schmucks (2010) by John T — 21 Dec 2011
I like Steve Carell but he needs to change his choice of movies and quickly.
He is seriously in danger of going down the same route as Jim Carrey , Will Ferrell and Seth Rogan and of starring as the same person but just in a different film.
The dork character he keeps playing is tired and audiences are seeing through it.
This is the ridiculous story of Tim , who in order to get promotion , need to bring an idiot to a dinner parter hosted by his boss and it just so happens he has bumped into the perfect idiot - Barry , played by Steve Carell.
This film is stupid . as you would expect , but the big it makes is treating the audience like an idiot.
This is a film that has one , maybe two , laughs and that's nowhere near enough.
It's too long and has too may sub plots going on.
Carell is annoying as is , David Walliams and Zach Galifianakis . The best thing about Dinner for Schmucks is Jemaine Clement who I think has the potential to be a big star.
The biggest Schmuck around is not Barry but me for watching it.
