A rather fantastical, Hollywood-friendly take on the witty original, Dinner for Schmucks succeeds in serving up a soup filled with classic screwball tricks and hilariously embarrassing situations. Whether it's ever as good as Diner de Cons is debatable, but nevertheless, it achieves what it seems to want - fun, careless Saturday night entertainment.
And if that's its main aim, then it ticks the box.
