Review of Dinner for Schmucks (2010) by Nick S — 13 Oct 2012
A wholly average comedy. I love Steve Carell (and his performance is excellent here), but the laughs just aren't dense enough for me. The cast is mostly positive, with Rudd being OK, Szostak playing along well, and the myriad eccentrics all selling their parts excellently.
The plot is mildly fresh, but concludes in a standard no-thanks-I'll-choose-my-own-destiny speech. It's good for casual viewing, but not a cinematic masterpiece.
