Review of Dinner for Schmucks (2010) by Fastidious P — 04 Sep 2011
Dinner For Schmucks is amusing for about 15 minutes, after that it's a grating train wreck. The entire thing is ridiculous without paying off or a point, only sporadically funny but with continuously poor writing and terrible character work.
The large and talented cast is the only thing that makes this somewhat watchable, however this kind of material should be far below where Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are at this point in their careers.
At least the movie paints a perfect parallel to Carell's character, annoying with nothing below the surface.
