Review of Dinner for Schmucks (2010) by Deb S — 30 Jul 2011
To solidify a promotion, a young executive Tim played by Paul Rudd needs to bring an idiot to a dinner for the amusement of upper management. Tim doesn't think that sounds very nice and plans on not going when he randomly meets Barry (Steve Carrel), who fits the part of "idiot with a special skill" perfectly. However, Barry turns out to be way more trouble than he's worth, and nearly ruins Tim's life. Also starring Jemaine Clement as Kieran Vollard, Jeff Dunham as Lewis the Ventriloquist, Ron Livingston as Caldwell, Zach Galifianakis as Barry's boss Therman and Chris O'Dowd as Marco the Blind Swordsman.
The movie is funny at times but it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth after-wards. Some people seem to think it makes them look clever and smart to make fun of others but that's really easy and anyone can do it. Some of us just choose not to.
