Review of Diner (1982) by Kelly B — 07 Jan 2009
It's "American Graffiti" only better! Set in 1959, which is my favorite decade- period! There may not seem like a lot going on to some people, but that's often the charm of the movie.
It's the simple story of guys hanging out, and shooting the shit at the local diner. Sure, some other stuff happens. For example the infamous pet the pecker popcorn box scene. You just watch how good Mickey Rourke talks his way out of this dilemma! Anyways, main appeal other than being set in the 50's is the amazing all-star cast of up and coming talent.
Barry Levinson's directorial debut (Rain Man) features: Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly, Kevin Bacon, Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Ellen Barkin and Paul Resier. Much like the Diner itself, this one is great to pop in during the late hours- over and over again.
