Review of Diner (1982) by Senor C — 23 Jan 2011
Barry Levinson's directorial debut and has the glimpse of the man's brilliance in storytelling. The movie is very casual and fun to watch, the first time you see it you always feel something huge is going to happen to the characters now but it just keeps going on at its calm pace with nothing much happening over the 110 minutes of its course.
The screenplay is very well written, with each character well defined and then some decent actors doing justice to them, but what really stands out at the end of the movie is the inconsequential chats between friends can shape up to be such a good script and movie.
Full marks to the director on this one, makes a good movie literally out of nothing.
