Review of Digging for Fire (2015) by Kyle G — 04 Dec 2015
Digging for Fire is an enjoyable albeit slight Joe Swanberg drama. The director is good in the film and I also loved the cast. Jake Johnson, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Brie Larson are all good in their roles.
The film explores many ideas, including marriage and identity. Unfortunately, the film suffers from some issues. First, the film isn't all that entertaining. There isn't really that much of a plot, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't really work in this film.
The film sometimes plods along, not knowing what to do with itself. The film wishes to be one of those great deep movies, but instead just settles for just being an ok movie.
