Improvement over "Die Hard 2", thanks to mixing up the formula & adding a sense of fun to the series, even if it peters out in the end. McTierman direction is a nice return to form, and pairing McClane with Zeus (superbly played by the great Samuel L.

Jackson) is a welcome change to the franchise. Jeremy Irons is also a plus as a villain, bringing the right combination of menace & charm that you root for him even when you hate him. The only downside is the story, which is excellent for the first two-thirds but ends rather anti-climatically (something the filmmakers themselves admit to).

Overall, still a fun ride and, to date, the best of the Die Hard sequels.
