THE GOOD- The action starts instantaneously with a boutique getting blown to bits. The initial set-up for this movie is fresh and exciting with McClane and his reluctant partner (Samuel L. Jackson) skowering the city for bombs. The rapport between the two characters is classic stuff and adds to the movie greatly. The plot moves in a progression, from searching for bombs, to a big heist, to following the bad guys and putting the kibosh on them. This makes the movie constantly fresh as the movie never lags because of the constant developments. The action sequences are excellent (the scene with the bomb in the subway). Jeremy Irons hits it out of the park as Simon, a menancing, nuanced villian.

THE BAD- The last third of the film the realism sort of flies away. One scene, McClane and Zeus (Jackson) fall a hundred feet from a bridge onto the deck of the boat and walk away from it.

THE DEAL- Despite the exaggerated sequences in the later parts of the film, it still works because the story is well layered and you want to see what happens next. This is a great, classic action film. Not only is this my favorite of the series (I used to watch this movie every day on VHS). But this is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Even if you are not as passionate about this film as I am, you will find it to be an at least 'good' action film worth watching.
