Review of Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) by Jacob G — 06 Jul 2014
While still not the first Die Hard movie, the third chapter is a nice improvement on #2. It's tense from the outset, right through the final scenes. There's a few weird plot points that never quite make sense, but it's an action movie, ya know? With a Vengeance realized that the franchise couldn't continue to be confined to a single location without being a 100% retread, so this time it is spread out over a city.
This works to differentiate it from the other preceding Die Hards, but at the cost of feeling like every other action movie ever. Pitfalls of the genre. Luckily the plot is pretty solid, helping to keep the movie notable.
